Hyundai Motor India is all set to enter the affordable SUV space with the ‘Exter’, set to be launched in the country in the coming months. The Exter will go on to become the entry-point to Hyundai SUVs in India, and be positioned in a segment that now has a host of options to choose from.
We previously compared the upcoming Hyundai Exter with the Tata Punch and Maruti Suzuki Fronx, but this time around, we pit it against its other rivals in the market, namely Citroen C3, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. Take a read to find out which of these four SUVs should be your pick –

While the Citroen C3, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite are all offered with two engine options, including a naturally aspirated petrol motor and a turbocharged petrol unit, the Hyundai Exter will be available with a sole 1.2-litre four-cylinder NA petrol engine producing 83 PS power and 114 Nm torque. However, the Exter will also be offered with an optional CNG kit straight from the factory, unlike the three other cars on this list.

While Hyundai is yet to reveal the feature list that will be on offer with the Exter, we believe it could come equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected tech, auto climate control, wireless phone charging, cruise control, four airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and a reversing camera. An electric sunroof might also be on offer on the top-end trim(s).
The features on offer with the Citroen C3 include a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected tech, a digitised instrument cluster, height-adjustable driver’s seat, a four-speaker sound system, electrically adjustable ORVMs, steering-mounted audio controls, etc

Nissan offers the Magnite with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, a wireless phone charger, air purifier, JBL speakers, ambient lighting, puddle lamps, a 360-degree camera, hill-start assist, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and so on. It should be noted that the Renault Kiger’s equipment list is also quite similar to that of the Magnite.

The Citroen C3, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite have a similar base price, however, the C3’s top-end variant is more affordable than the two considering there’s no automatic on offer yet.
