The examination date for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test – Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 has been moved forward to June 23 by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The National Medical Commission with the Medical Counselling Committee, the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), the Directorate General for Health Sciences (DGHS), and the National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences (NBEMS) convened a meeting to make this conclusion.

That being said, the most recent NMC notification states that the internship deadline is still in place.

The exam was originally scheduled for March 3, but was moved to July 7 after the commission received multiple representations from potential applicants. The NMC will announce the NEET PG result 2024 by July 15 per the updated timeline. On the other hand, the NMC has now said that the NEET PG counselling will begin on August 5 and go through 10.

Clearing the NEET PG entrance exam is a prerequisite for enrollment in the nation’s MD, MS, or postgraduate diploma programmes. The NEET PG 2024 test paper would be worth 800 marks based on past years’ trends. The test will have a total of 200 multiple-choice questions. In NEET PG 2024, applicants will receive 4 marks for each accurate answer and 1 mark is deducted for each erroneous response. Marked-for-review responses are assessed according to correctness, and unanswered questions do not carry any negative marking.

The NEET PG exam pattern states that the exam would be held online in computer-based testing (CBT) mode and it would take 3 hours 30 minutes to complete the test.

Meanwhile, the NEET MDS exam 2024 was held on March 18, despite students requesting and filing a plea with the Supreme Court to postpone the dental medical entrance examination. Aspirants expressed a primary concern regarding the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducting a common counselling session for NEET PG and PG dental, and that MDS candidates would have to wait till the NEET PG exams and internship are over.
