The now-taken down derogatory post on Instagram, which was made a day after the BJP fielded Kangana Ranaut from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, showed a photo of scantily-clad Kangana Ranaut, with a derogatory caption.

Responding to the row over an objectionable social media post against her shared by Congress leader Supriya Shrinate, Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut on Tuesday said she would discuss the further course of action on the matter with BJP President JP Nadda in Delhi.

The BJP’s Lok Sabha poll candidate from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi said, “We have reacted to the row over the objectionable post. BJP chief JP Nadda has asked me to meet him in Delhi. Will be able to speak on the matter after the meeting with him.”

The actor added that she would discuss if she had to take any legal action against Congress’ Supriya Shrinate during the meeting with Nadda.

She added that the people of Mandi were hurt by Shrinate’s post. “Mandi is called chota-Kashi. People of Mandi are hurt because of this derogatory remark,” She said.

The now-taken down derogatory post on Instagram, which was made a day after the BJP fielded Kangana Ranaut from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, showed a photo of scantily-clad Kangana Ranaut, with a derogatory caption.

Supriya Shrinate later claimed that the social media post was made by someone who had access to her Facebook and Instagram accounts. She also blamed a parody account that was misusing her name on X. However, Shrinate’s clarification was met with strong criticism from BJP leaders and other politicians.

Ranaut had responded to the derogatory post on social media, saying “every woman deserves her dignity”.

Responding to the row, BJP leader Bansuri Swaraj said, “Such derogatory words were used for someone who is India’s daughter and a woman. This is very shocking, and has shown the mentality of the Congress. The top leadership of the Congress should apologise for this.”

Commenting on the row and responding to Ranaut’s claim that Congress did not respect women, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu responded to the row and said, “She is the daughter of Himachal. Her parents live here. Her father was made the General Secretary of Congress in Mandi. We started Mahila Samman Nidhi by distributing Rs.1500 among the women.”

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW), through a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI), has sought ‘strict action’ against Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate and party leader HS Ahir for their ‘lewd and derogatory’ social media posts against actor Kangana Ranaut.
