Volvo C40 Recharge launched in India at Rs 61.25 lakh: Range, battery, features – Times of India

Swedish Automaker recently revealed the Volvo C40 Recharge coupe electric SUV to the Indian market. Now the company has finally launched the car to the Indian market and is priced at Rs 61.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The bookings for C40 Recharge will start from tomorrow i.e., September 5th 2023 and the deliveries are expected to begin soon.
The Volvo C40 Recharge is the second all-electric vehicle after the XC40 Recharge. The C40 Recharge coupe electric SUV is based on the XC40 Recharge and it only gets an electric powertrain and won’t get an ICE counterpart. The Volvo C40 Recharge is essentially the latter’s coupe version and is based on the same CMA platform.

In terms of design, the XC40 and C40 almost look similar at the front but the C40 has a sloping roofline which gives it a coupe look. It gets Thor’s hammer LED Daytime Running Lamps at the front and dual-tone 19-inch alloy wheels. Moving on to the back, it gets sleek tail lamps with a twin-pod roof spoiler which makes it look sporty. The C40 also get new pixel technology for its headlights.

Moving inside, the interior of the C40 Recharge is identical to the XC40 Recharge. It gets a 9.0-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system flanked by slim AC vents. It also gets wood inlays on the dashboard with soft-touch materials and Volvo says they’ve used vegan leather upholstery. Other features include a 12.3-inch digital driver display, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Harman Kardon sound system, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, 360-degree camera and ADAS tech.

Talking about the powertrain and battery, the C40 Recharge gets a dual-motor set-up – one on each axle – paired with a 78kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 530km on a single charge. The C40 Recharge gets fast charging with a 150kW DC charger that can charge its batteries from 0 to 100 per cent in 27 minutes.

The twin electric motors put out 408hp and 660Nm of torque. Volvo claims it can sprint from 0-100kph in 4.7 seconds and top speed is limited to 180 kph. The C40 Recharge will be locally assembled and at this price range, the EV will compete with Kia EV6, Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Mercedes-Benz EQB.
