Earthquake of 7.7 magnitude hits Taiwan; Japan, Philippines issue tsunami alerts

The earthquake rocked Taiwan damaging buildings and triggering tsunami alerts. The epicentre was 18 km south of Hualien at a depth of 34.8 km.
